Burke's Nest
I’m David Burke, sometimes known as “Wandering Dave.”
Right now, I’m in-between wanderings; but after being in one place for nearly four years, am feeling restless.
My new Toyota Tacoma will soon be outfitted with a Four Wheel pop-up camper. The Photoshopped image here provides a pretty good idea of what my rig will look like once it’s assembled.
In late 2012, I’ll be heading out in my “Burke’s Nest” to once again explore North America. My last trip took 12 months; I traveled some 18 thousand miles and spent five days in about 80 different locations. I made over 200 entries in my Wandering Dave blog, took lots of photos and even made a few audio and video podcasts.
This time, I’m hoping to spend a lot more time communing with nature and to do a lot more podcasting. I used to invite folks to “ride along with Wandering Dave;” but lately – as I’ve become more engaged in commentary – I just warn folks to be careful lest they get hit by some of my BurkeDroppings.
René Descartes famously said Cogito ergo sum which, of course, is latin for Je pense donc je suis, and we all know that means I think, therefore I am in English.
While not meaning to imply that I don’t think, I prefer saying Scribo ergo sum, meaning I write, therefore I am.
You are most welcome to hang around this site and investigate the deposits lying on the ground, coating lawn furniture, the sun dial, fence posts, yard ornaments and — I’m sorry to admit — spattering some of the people who have shared space with me.

As always, I recommend that you carry an umbrella, wear a poncho or don some raingear because, if you hang out in my back yard …
